Latvia releases draft legislation, known as the "Amendments to the Accounting Law," to provide clarity and establish a legal framework concerning e-invoices issued for products or services.

Under these proposed amendments, invoices are required to be structured as electronic documents, ensuring consistency and standardization in their format.

B2B: Starting January 1, 2026, all companies will be mandated to issue structured electronic invoices for products or services rendered.

B2G: Additionally, transitional provisions outline that from January 1, 2025, companies registered in Latvia must issue structured electronic invoices to budget institutions, the recipients of these products or services.

Amendments to the Accounting Law are subject to public consultation with the timeline: 24.05.2024. - 07.06.2024.
